Oil change interval...How long between changes?

I have a 1994 Geo Prizm with the 1.6 L four cylinder engine.

It has 198,000 miles on it.

I have been changing the oil and filter every 3,000 miles since I got it (at about 180,000 miles).

At every oil change, I use Castrol GTX High Mileage 5W-30 and a Fram Tough Guard oil filter.

I decided to check out my owners manual for mileage recommendations. The manual says every 3,750 miles under %26quot;extreme%26quot; conditions and 7,500 miles under %26quot;normal%26quot; conditions.

In the winter, I always let it warm up for at least five minutes before I go anywhere. And probably 75% of my driving is at 70 MPH.

Since this engine has so many miles on it, should I change the oil every 3,000 miles or 3,750 (like what the manual says) or even 4,000 miles?

Thanks!!Oil change interval...How long between changes?-The more often you change the oil, the better lubricated the engine will be and the longer your car will last. 70 MPH in a little 1.6L four cylinder is a lot harder on it than if you were doing that speed in any V6 or even larger 4 cylinder. But then again it sounds like you let it warm up and don't do a lot of city driving. So I would recomend you change it every 3,750 miles. This is at the more often end of the manual, but it is also a high mileage car.Oil change interval...How long between changes?some where between 3000 to 5000 miles best way to do it

doesnt mean you do it just at 3000 miles or 7500 can do it anytime you want or when it looks dirty cleaner the oil longer it last just doing it is what mattersOil change interval...How long between changes?it has high milage so i would stay at every 3000m. keep using your oil, castrol is good for small cars like urs. good at letting your lil car warm up like that to in the winter.gets the oil around . hard starts are bad on carsOil change interval...How long between changes?Like you said most owners manuels say to do it around 3-4 thousand miles or 3-4 months but if I were you I would continue changing it just like you have. You know your car better then anyone else so when you think it needs changing and when its best for you change it.Oil change interval...How long between changes?i would change like you have been but the oil would last longer but to be safe i would do it as you are if you have had no problemsOil change interval...How long between changes?Since your vehicle has so many miles, go up to GTX 10/40, and you only need to let the engine run for 60 seconds for the oil to circulate throughout, I would say since you have always used GTX,... you can go 4,ooo miles between.Oil change interval...How long between changes?Well, extreme conditions would include a lot of stop and go traffic and short trips. If you drive mostly on the highway, let your car warm up, and don't floor it at every stoplight, then you should be able to change your oil closer to 7,500 miles. Just check the dipstick at every fuel fillup. When it starts to look dirty, then would be a good time to change it.Oil change interval...How long between changes?A synthetic or synthetic blend oil may cost two or three times as much as conventional oil, but the oil and filter changes last three times as long (see http://www.mobiloil.com ) under normal driving and engine operating conditions. So you can go 9,000 miles between oil changes and your engine will actually be better protected! The only proviso is on a new car that's under warranty. Then you need to do whatever is required to keep the warranty in force in case there's an engine or transmission failure under warranty. I've been changing my oil and filter every 9,000 miles with Mobil One for 40 years with dozens of old and new cars and have never had an internal engine problem.
