What really is the PURPOSE of the Oil Filter in vehicles and if it is left without changing what happens?

also, if your vehicle has a bit of an oil leak ,,slow, and not bad, where you can refill this oil from month to month with FRESH oil...would the vehicle in essense be receiving a new oil change each time?

if dont replace the oil filter what happens? is the oil filter to %26quot;Clean%26quot; the oil?

how it does this?

please xpain and describe

when , why , and where they first came up with the idea of the %26quot;Oil Filter%26quot; too?

thanks for your answers!What really is the PURPOSE of the Oil Filter in vehicles and if it is left without changing what happens?The oil filter is a necessary evil in the oil change world. It is on the vehicle to catch small metal shavings that come off of different parts of the motor as it runs. It also catches contaminants that may be introduced it to the system, i.e. water, small amounts of plastic from different parts of the motor, etc. As far as when exactly they were developed, I am not sure, but as far back as 1940's they had an %26quot;oil filter%26quot; which was nothing more than a roll of toilet paper near the oil pump. As manufactures developed smaller clearances between parts of the motor, they had to develop better filtration. If there wasn't one on the vehicle, the motors couldn't perform nearly as well as they do nowadays.What really is the PURPOSE of the Oil Filter in vehicles and if it is left without changing what happens?The purpose of the oil filter is to remove all the containments that prevent the oil from doing its job. The main containments are combustion byproducts that get past the rings and metal that comes from the engine as it wears and tears. At the end of the day a good oil filter cleans the oil thus increasing both oil life and engine life

It does this using a filter media. It works the same way as the filter on your furnace or home air conditioner. only instead of air there is oil

No idea when the oil filter was thought up.What really is the PURPOSE of the Oil Filter in vehicles and if it is left without changing what happens?the purpose for a oil filter is to filter the oil from dirt so it won,t ruin the moving parts like bearings for instance and if you don,t change the filter then sooner or later is will get clogged up.What really is the PURPOSE of the Oil Filter in vehicles and if it is left without changing what happens?first off find the leak fix it and the oil filter filters out any dirt metal and other small things in your oil out so if u have a leak fix it then do an oil change its not good to mix good and bad or old and new oilWhat really is the PURPOSE of the Oil Filter in vehicles and if it is left without changing what happens?oil filters filter any metel parts that might cameoff the moving parts of engine.the filter prevents it from going back to the engine.so that the engine do not get damage.oil is like blood ion our body.filter is like heart.What really is the PURPOSE of the Oil Filter in vehicles and if it is left without changing what happens?oil gets dirty with solid stuff that dont belong in it and the filter %26quot;filters%26quot; it and will become plugged at some time btw just fix the leakWhat really is the PURPOSE of the Oil Filter in vehicles and if it is left without changing what happens?If the designer felt the need to include one then it is probably important.What really is the PURPOSE of the Oil Filter in vehicles and if it is left without changing what happens?What kind of question is that? It's a FILTER!!! It filters the oil. Look it up on %26quot;howstuffworks.com%26quot;
