How do u change the transmission filter on a 2002 2.2L non ecotec sunfire? Also wear is the trans oil plug at?

Is it hard to change the filter and chagne the transimision oil. Also how often should u change these? How do u change the transmission filter on a 2002 2.2L non ecotec sunfire? Also wear is the trans oil plug at?There is no plug. This is the good old american type of transmission oil change. Not too hard (depending on the accessibility), but messy.

First, you have to loosen all of the transmission pan bolts and get ready to have a large drain pan. Then remove the bolts on one side of the pan. You're trying to tilt the pan and get the fluid to run out of one side.

After the fluid is drained, the filter is attached on the underside of the transmission. Pull off the old filter and snap on the new one.

To reinstall the pan, be sure to scrape off the old gasket material around the lip of both the pan and the mounting surface. Use a new gasket to reinstall the pan.

After that, just refill the trans with the proper fluid. Start the vehicle. Shift from neutral to drive a couple of times and check the fluid level.

The ease of this project all depends on the accessibility of the pan. Preplan for obstructions by the exhaust, etc. You can get transmission filter kits from Advance Auto Parts that have everything you need in them. How do u change the transmission filter on a 2002 2.2L non ecotec sunfire? Also wear is the trans oil plug at?im sure there is no plug on that pan.. you have to loosen each bolt until fluid starts coming out, and just let it drain! once it is done draining take the bolts the rest of the way out, but be careful the pan still has fluid in it so dont get a face full!! once the pan is off the first part attached to the bottom should be the filter, there should be 1-3 small bolts holding it on. it is a really simple thing to do and should take you no time at all!!
