How often should you change your transmission filter?

Im not sure whether to just get the oil flushed or change the oil and filter the ladder is almost double the price

Its a 96 4Runner ,2WD, 2.7L engine, 4cylHow often should you change your transmission filter?Your gonna hate me...I would do both.

Flush the transmission first, then drop the pan and replace the filter. In that order.

The reason is this: The transmission flush will clean the dirty fluid out of your torque converter. But, then the filter is still dirty. So, you need to drop the pan and replace the filter. Refill with new fluid, and your good to go.

If you only replace the filter, the fluid is still dirty in the torque converter! If you only do the flush, the filter may plug up! Either way, you'd lose.

So, I'd do both. I am assuming it's probably the first time this has been done to the vehicle, so even though it would be expensive, it's a worth while investment into your vehicle! How often should you change your transmission filter?I believe every 30000 miles a flush gets most of the oil out and a change doesn't get all of it and the filter is just a fancy window screen in a boxHow often should you change your transmission filter? The tranny does NOT need oil flush. But when you change the oil, you should also change the filter.

Good Luck...How often should you change your transmission filter?i dont get it i have drove cars with 400,000 miles on them and never change the fluid in any of my cars and ive really run them hard and put them in places where some would only drive a jeep......but i think they say every three or so years and do it like the other guy said have it flushed first then the filter hes rightHow often should you change your transmission filter?change oil and filter every 50,000 and DO NOT FLUSH TRANSMISSION OR SHOP WILL LOVE YOU. it does not get all trash out and then trash gets to parts and your trans is gone
