Oil change at Jiffy lube killed my engine in just 10-miles drive! They say they will take care of repair?

I just drove 10 miles after the oil change and the oil filter fell off, when i was on highway. I pulled-off %26amp; checked my engine to see that there was no oil left. My engine got locked out!

I reported to the Jiffy lube %26amp; customer service person says that they will take care of the repair. Means, they will replace my engine with a used engine.

What would be the best resolution at this point?

I do not want to let them put some engine in my car and escape from what they had done. How can i rely on a used engine that they put in? My car was a well maintained 2000 Toyota Corolla.

Should i go to small claims court %26amp; get a compensation for the car rather than going for replacing the engine? I dont know how it will work out and how long it would take. I dont have any contacts with a lawyer to take legal views etc.

I appreciate and thank you for your suggestions. I am from Cincinnati, OhioOil change at Jiffy lube killed my engine in just 10-miles drive! They say they will take care of repair?Jiffy Lube is notorious for this, I actually make a killing thanks to them because im in the used auto business.... Sue emOil change at Jiffy lube killed my engine in just 10-miles drive! They say they will take care of repair? Not a big deal. Tell them you want a rebuilt engine with a warranty (ussually one year but the car will last longer) if they don't agree take them to small claims you don't need a lawyer for that. They should be providing you with a rental car until yours is repaired if not sue for that as well. Don't let them push you around they are clearly liable and will have to pay a lot more money if it goes to court. Get on their butts.Oil change at Jiffy lube killed my engine in just 10-miles drive! They say they will take care of repair?Of course, they're in the wrong and you can sue them if you have a good lawyer. Just know that it will take time especially if they drag their heels. In the meantime, you will have to get other transportation like a rental and add the cost of that to your compensation. Why not speak to a lawyer or legal company that won't necessarily charge you for just inquiring if you have a good case?

If you don't want their version of compensation, then going with a lawyer is your best bet.

Good luck.Oil change at Jiffy lube killed my engine in just 10-miles drive! They say they will take care of repair?Document everything - work order paper, time of work, time leaving the place, time when car shuts off, promise by Jiffy Lube if you can put it in writing.

Once you have all tangible evidence, you can decide your options..

Inquire a trustworthy shop how much to replace a rebuilt engine and decide if you would still trust Jiffy Lube to rebuilt your engine.

Keep all paperwork just in case everything go sour and you have to pursue legal path.

Pain in the butt but they will pay one way or an other. They will maintain new/rebuilt not what you came in with. Try to reach agreement in advance if possible. They will recommend shop to do work, check them out in person. You do not have to use them, but it may go faster if you do.How much time and money do you have?,is the question. Court probably will not award price of new motor.Oil change at Jiffy lube killed my engine in just 10-miles drive! They say they will take care of repair?Karen, I personally saw a Toyota Camry in the dealership (Toyota) last winter for the very same reason as yours. It had been sitting there for six weeks and they had heard nothing from the parent company of Jiffy Lube which is Pennzoil. Be sure to fill out a claim and demand the work be done at your local Toyota dealer. If I were you I'd haunt Jiffy Lube for a car rental while yours is in the shop. If they move like a proverbial turtle spend a few bucks on an attorney to make some calls and find out exactly what you as a consumer has as far as rights go.

Don't let them drag things on.
