I have a 1999 gmc sonoma pick up...i went to change the oil filter and it wouldnt come off.?

So...i took and oil wrench and it broke in half along with the can being crished and ripped off the block. Now all i have left is the base of the old oil filter and i have no clue how to get it off now. All that is left of the old oil filter is about a quarter inch of the old filter still attached to the block. i need some help any ideas????I have a 1999 gmc sonoma pick up...i went to change the oil filter and it wouldnt come off.?screwdriver and a hammer. take the screwdriver and place it on the filter and beat the filter around the block until it comes off.I have a 1999 gmc sonoma pick up...i went to change the oil filter and it wouldnt come off.?Vice Grips maybe could grasp the old filter and allow you to turn it.
