Oil change on a 1981 Honda Nighthawk 650?

Hey I'm wondering if anyone knows where the oil filter is located. I can't seem to find it. I know how to change the oil but do not currently have a manual so I don't know where the oil filter is. Does anyone know where it is located or direct me to a site that could help me? Thanks.Oil change on a 1981 Honda Nighthawk 650?Hey there it is. Its located inside of that canister that sits between the number 2%26amp;3 exhaust pipes on the front of the engine. It is a canister type of filter and care needs to be taken to observe the order of the parts inside as you remove them. Be sure to get the gasket from out of the mounting area and replace it, I have seen a few of them stacked and I promise you a leak if this should happen.Oil change on a 1981 Honda Nighthawk 650?dfgdgfr

  • Tried to change my oil today. I was unsuccessful. 2005 Chevy Cavalier.?

I drained the oil. Then I went to change the filter and couldn't find the thing. I heard that it might be located in the top of the vehicle inside a compartment or something. I have never heard of that. I have only delt with the canister type.

    1. Where's the friggen filter?

    2. How much good did I do by only changing the oil and not the filter?Tried to change my oil today. I was unsuccessful. 2005 Chevy Cavalier.?Answer

I am not an expert, however, on a Cavalier 05, with an Ecotec 2.2L the oil filter is at the front of the engine, from above, to the right. It's a blach cap that can be opened with a 1 1/4 inch socket wrench, with extender. The filter just drops in. Good Luck.

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_is_the_oTried to change my oil today. I was unsuccessful. 2005 Chevy Cavalier.?If the filter has only had one lot of oil through it it will still be good for a while (presuming the old oil was not massively dirty). So don't worry about it too much. You have good new oil and that is the main thing. Maybe change it again a little earlier than you might have done with a new filter next time.Tried to change my oil today. I was unsuccessful. 2005 Chevy Cavalier.?the filter is on the top end toward the front of the car on the end next to transmission (Drivers side) just below the intake and behind the radiator. it is a black cover with a 1 1/8%26quot; hex head for a large socket and extension. It has an o-ring seal around it so be careful when re-installing it as to not pinch the o-ring. This system is really nice as the oil drains away from the filter and there really is minimal mess involved. The only thing they could do to make it any better would be to make it so you can reach the drain plug from the top also.Tried to change my oil today. I was unsuccessful. 2005 Chevy Cavalier.?ok , under the car, on the oil pan, you going to see a largen cap,,,, unscreew it an the fitler will be in side of it,Tried to change my oil today. I was unsuccessful. 2005 Chevy Cavalier.?Changing the oil and not the filter is bad unless it was a Napa Gold or WIX filter(actually same filter) and Synthetic oil like Royal Purple. I am assuming it isn't. The owner's manual might show you where the filter is. I have seen the Ecotech insert type filter cap on the front of the engine. It makes it easy to change from the top. I would recommend changing the oil right away and using Wix and Royal Purple. Change the filter every 5,000 miles and the oil every 10,000 miles. You'll get a little boost in mileage and it won't cost more in the long run. You just change less often. Have Fun with it!!Tried to change my oil today. I think the best advise is to go to the parts store and buy you a bible on your vehicle, there about $20 and they have all your info and pics . they are awesome for someone who is learning, and a full time mechanic

How do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?

i bought this bike and it had no type of manual for it so if someone could tell me what type of oil and oil filter and anything else that might be good to do while changing the oil.How do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?I wasn't going to answere this since one the previos poster nailed it but then I saw one say that you can use regular car oil and that is wrong. On a Harley maybe because they have seperate oil for the transmition and the engine but on your bike the oil is used for both so you have to use oil that works for both ie motorcycle oil. This time of year go with 10w30 or 10w40 if you live in a warmer climate. The oil change is the same as a car, remove the plug, drain the oil, change the filter(which is a bit of a pain to remove given the limited access), put the plug back in and add oil. Check the sight glass window with the bike held stright upright not on the sidestand to tell when you have enough oil in it. If you get your oil and filter from a dealership they will be able to tell you exactly how much oil you will need. Get a K%26amp;N oil filter because when it comes time to change your oil next time they have a nut on the end of the filter which makes it much easier to remove and everyone I have talked to says they make better filters too and when you think about the rpms we run these things at getting good oil and filters seems like a good idea. Also if you go with synthetic oil you can change it less since the oil lasts longer once again check with the dealer and see what they say but I always use it and have never had a problem with 5000 mile change increments.

Oil only gets added to the gas on 2 stroke engines and yours is a 4 stoke so don't listen to that one either. How do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?take it somewhere if you are asking this explaining itwon't help youHow do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?Start here

LHow do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?Under no circumstances do you ever add oil to the fuel on this model bike. 10W 30 or 15 W40 is what is commonly used on motorcycles. Make sure you use 4 stroke motorcycleoil, not 2 stroke or car oil. They are very different! Your best bet is to go to a Motorcycle Dealer or motorcycle parts store for your oil and filter. They can help you find the right filter. It will cost more than car oil and filters but thats the way things are.

    Why do people that know nothing about the subject chime in with answers that are completely wrong? Oil added to the gas is only for 2 stroke bikes like dirt bikes.How do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?So I don't have to re-type, in the search box, search for %26quot;How do I do an oil change on a yzf 600r?%26quot;

The only difference is, the oil drain bolt is on the very bottom of the engine.

The oil level sight glass is below the oil fill cap.

Don't pay attention to the %26quot;only use motorcycle oil%26quot; statement.

After doing research, I found out automotive oil is no different than motorcycle oil.

Just use quality, brand name 4 stroke motor oil.

10w40 in cold weather %26amp; 20w50 in warm weather. How do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?I use the regular ol' 10w-40 full synthetic. Works like a beaut and always has. Buying bike oil is just paying more for the word %26quot;bike%26quot;. 10w-40 is never stocked as fully as the more popular weights, but I've always been able to find it at any gas station, auto parts store, etc.

DEFINITELY make sure the bike is vertical when you check the oil level. If you don't have a center stand, prop it against a wall (with a blanket in between if you baby it) or get a friend to hold it straight while you check the window. Too much oil can cause as much damage as not enough. How do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?the oil should be added to the fuel

Honda civic 2002 LX transmission fluid change and fuel filter?

I'm not a mechanic by any means...I'm good with changing oil, brake pads, spark plugs, some belts and could do an alternator....but I'm not certain if I should try the transmission fluid or take it to a garage???? Also, I looked in my Haynes book and seems like the fuel filter sits on top of the fuel tank and I will have to go back and look but I think I remember reading something about a hatch under the back seat to change the fuel filter so you don't have to drop the tank. Anyone ever try these two things and how difficult would it be??Honda civic 2002 LX transmission fluid change and fuel filter?Personally, I don't think a 2002 needs a gas filter change. I wouldn't bother.

As for transmission fluid, I would change it at about the 75,000 mile mark.

First, purchase only fluid made for that vehicle from the dealer - don't buy a generic substitute at the auto store! The Honda's are very fussy about the fluid. I wouldn't take a chance on ruining the trans by buying a cheap replacement fluid.

It is very easy to change it. Just put a catch pan under the trans and remove the plug to drain the fluid. It is true that you will not drain 100% of the fluid this way, but replacing 80% of it gives your trans mostly new fluid in it. This is what I do. The service stations try to sell you a flushing of the system, but it is expensive (they have to pay for the expensive machine).

If you are really concerned about getting all of the old fluid out you can flush it yourself. Here's how: Buy twice the amount of fluid (8 containers instead of 4). Find the trans inlet cooling tube on the bottom of the radiator and crack it open to allow fluid to escape. Start the car and let it idle while filling with new fluid. When you think half of the fluid has been passed through, secure the cooling tube and top off the fluid. It's still a lot cheaper than having a flush done.Honda civic 2002 LX transmission fluid change and fuel filter?if you don't know how to change it, take it to mavis tires or somewhereHonda civic 2002 LX transmission fluid change and fuel filter?alot of times with a 'drain and fill' method for switching up ur tranny fluid, you will only end up replacing about 50-75% of the fluid, is your trans auto or manual? If it's an auto, I would reccomend just bringing it into a quick lube shop, most of them have t-tec machines that go straight into the dipstick hole, and will replace 100% of the trans fluid. Also, for your fuel filter, I can't remember if the 2002's still have the fuel filter located under the hood by the firewall, if your FF is there, it is an extremely easy job to do, you will just need some open box end wrenches, and vice gripsHonda civic 2002 LX transmission fluid change and fuel filter?dude dont do it your self, tranny is something you dont wanna mess with, unless you have money for a new one... I think you have to blow and flush all the fluid out b4 you put in the new one, its not like changing motor oil so just take it to the dealer so you have the warranty on it aswell

  • How often to change oil in old Pontiac that isn't driven much?

My grandma drives a 1994 Grand Prix with about 113k miles on it. She doesn't drive much (maybe 5-6k/yr) so she doesn't change the oil much. However, the car must leak or burn oil b/c I check it once in awhile %26amp; it's almost always low. For example, she got an oil change back in April %26amp; has driven about 2k mi since then - I just checked %26amp; it was almost a quart low.

I'm not an expert, but it seems she should change her oil more frequently b/c even if I add oil (which I do) the filter will still be dirty - right? It seems like if there isn't enough oil for a period of time the oil %26amp; filter will get gunked up more quickly than usual. I would like to know what to tell her %26amp; it would help to get an expert opinion! I guess I should also note that we live in an urban area %26amp; probably 60% of the driving is in town. Thanks very much! How often to change oil in old Pontiac that isn't driven much?Considering her driving, I would suggest an oil and filter change every six months, regardless of mileage. How often to change oil in old Pontiac that isn't driven much?Every 5 - 6 K miles. How often to change oil in old Pontiac that isn't driven much?JUST CHANGE IT EVERY 2 YEARS
